The soy sauce of Shodoshima originated about 400 years ago. It started when the quarrying team at Osaka Castle on Shodoshima introduced soy sauce from Kishu Yuasa as a seasoning.

Shodoshima people who are interested in Yuasa soy sauce learned how to make soy sauce in Yuasa. Taking this technology back to the island, Shodoshima soy sauce was born.

The naturally brewed "Nama-Sho-shoyu" uses whole soybeans, wheat and sun salt on Shodo Island. The climate here is mild, pleasant, and full of all the flavors carefully brewed in the cedar trough throughout the four seasons.

It has a unique smell, glossy color and deep flavor.
